Daniel Köstl

Daniel Köstl made his senior debut for Sparta Prague in 2016, and it came in Europe. On 24 November of that year he appeared in a UEFA Europa League group match against Southampton, which Sparta won 1-0. A Czech Cup tie against České Budějovice the previous month was the only other first-team game he played for the club. He did not make a Czech First League appearance for Sparta.

He had joined the Sparta academy in 2005 and worked his way through the U19 and U21 sides. At youth international level he played seven times for the Czech Republic at U17 and three times at U19, scoring once for the U19s in 2016. He was also called up to the U21 squad without appearing for it. He has not been capped by the senior national team.

The move that shaped his career was the one to Bohemians 1905 in July 2019, on a free transfer, after a loan at Slovan Liberec in 2018–19 in which he played twice in the league. In Prague he stayed five years and made 138 league appearances, scoring six goals. Bohemians finished eighth in 2019–20, tenth the following season and 14th in 2021–22, so his time there was spent largely in the middle and lower half of the table.

In July 2024 he crossed into Slovakia to join MFK Ružomberok, again on a free transfer. In 2025/26 he played 23 matches, 22 of them in the Slovak Super Liga and one in the Slovak Cup, scoring twice and providing one assist. He has made eight league appearances in the current 2026/27 season.
