About the player
He came off the bench in the 2024 Icelandic Cup final against Víkingur Reykjavík and scored in stoppage time. The goal won KA Akureyri the trophy — the club's first Cup title.
Valsson had joined KA on a free transfer only that August, taking the number 25 shirt. Before that he spent five and a half years at Keflavík ÍF, where he arrived in February 2019, also on a free. He was part of the side that won the 1. deild karla in 2020 and stayed on as the club established itself in the Besta deild karla from 2021. Across all competitions he made over 160 appearances for Keflavík and scored 17 goals.
His football began in the Eastfjords. He came through the youth ranks at Valur Reyðarfjörður between 2011 and 2014, then at Leiknir Fáskrúðsfjörður, and turned senior with Leiknir Fáskrúðsfirði in 2016.
He plays as a forward or on the left wing, and is right-footed. Iceland has capped him at U16 and U19 level; he has no senior international appearances on record.
As of early 2026 he is set to return to Keflavík ÍF on a free transfer, and is expected to wear the number 7 shirt.
