About the player
Diogo Clara arrived at Sporting CP in July 2023 after passing through the academies of several of Portugal's biggest clubs, having started out at GD Alcochetense before spells at Benfica, Belenenses, Casa Pia and Estoril Praia, and he signed with Sporting on a contract running to 2027.
At his new club he has progressed through the U23 and Sporting CP B sides. In the 2023/2024 campaign he was named in the squad for the Campeonato Nacional de Juniores at U19 level, featuring in the qualification phase for the title, though the championship that year went to Braga rather than Sporting.
Clara has not yet featured for any of Portugal's youth national teams, and his time at senior level remains at an early stage.
