About the player
Krylya Sovetov's 2020/21 season ended with two results: the club won the FNL and reached the Russian Cup final. Evgeni Frolov had arrived that February as a free agent, and he was there for both.
It was not his first cup final. Frolov joined Dynamo Moscow in August 2011 on a three-year contract, and in 2011/12 Dynamo reached the final of the same competition. His time at the club was mostly spent waiting: he made one appearance for Dynamo, and in 2014 he went on loan to Sakhalin. In May 2012 Yuri Krasnozhan called him up to Russia's second team, an experimental squad the RFU ran in 2011 and 2012 before discontinuing it. He has no caps for the senior national side.
The years before Dynamo were spent in Saransk. Frolov started at Mordovia in 2005 and played 41 games for them. In 2010 the club won the Second Division's Centre zone, and that year he also spent time on loan at Znamya Truda and appeared for Torpedo Moscow.
After Dynamo he moved to Kuban Krasnodar, where he stayed from 2015 to 2016, and in 2017 he had a spell at Baltika Kaliningrad. That summer he signed for Orenburg. He played 41 matches there and wore number 91 before leaving for Sochi in 2019.
Krylya Sovetov followed in early 2020.
