About the player
A central defender, right-footed and standing 1.89 m, he began at Unión Española in 2010, spending the following years out on loan at San Martín de San Juan, Everton de Viña del Mar and Rangers de Talca before permanent moves to Deportes Antofagasta, Palestino and Universidad de Concepción took him around the league through the middle of the decade.
It was at Santiago Wanderers, from 2018, that he became a regular fixture, helping the side win the Primera B title in 2019. After a second spell at Universidad de Concepción, he joined Cobresal in 2022 and established himself as a first-choice centre-back. The high point of that spell came in the 2023 Campeonato Nacional, when Cobresal finished the season as runners-up on 56 points, behind champions Huachipato. The title was settled on the final day, when Cobresal lost 1-0 to Unión Española, the club where Alarcón had started his career.
He signed for Deportes Recoleta in 2025.
Alarcón's only representative football came at youth level: he was called up to Chile's under-23 side for the 2008 Malaysia Cup, where he played one match. He has not earned a cap for the senior national team.
