About the player
Francisco Funes was born in Glew, Buenos Aires. He started out at Independiente Chivilcoy in 2023, then switched to Guillermo Brown on a free transfer in January 2024. A year later, in January 2025, he joined Metropolitanos FC in Venezuela, again on a free move, spending the 2025 season with the club.
No individual honours or national-team recognition from his time there have been recorded.
In January 2026 he moved on again, this time to Los Andes on a free transfer, and just two months later, in March 2026, he returned to Independiente Chivilcoy on loan from that club. He remains there for now.
Primarily a central midfielder, Funes has also turned out as a striker in some of his more recent appearances, a versatility that has followed him through his run of short spells across Argentine and Venezuelan football. He is right-footed and stands 182 centimetres tall.
