About the player
Three goals in four UEFA Youth League matches is a notable achievement.
The step up followed in 2020, when he made his senior debut for ÍA Akranes. Part of the 2019–2020 season was spent on loan at UMF Skallagrímur. He stayed at Akranes until the end of 2023 — four seasons in the same shirt, the club that raised him.
January 2024 brought the move to Valur Reykjavík , a free transfer. He played there through the 2024 season. In March 2025 he returned to ÍA Akranes.
Unnarsson plays as a right winger or right midfielder and is right-footed.
Internationally, he has one cap for the Iceland Under-21s, won during qualifying for the 2023 UEFA European Under-21 Championship. He has not yet appeared for the senior Iceland side.
