About the player
Jona Borsum came up through VfL Wolfsburg's academy before a move to Eintracht Braunschweig, where he signed his first professional contract in the summer of 2025, initially to 2027 and later extended to 2028. Braunschweig then sent him out on loan to Kickers Offenbach in the Regionalliga Südwest for the 2025/26 season, and the central midfielder made the most of the opportunity: 31 appearances and eight goals, figures that helped Offenbach to the Regionalliga Südwest title and the Landespokal Hessen.
That loan spell put him on SV Meppen's radar, and Borsum has now moved to the 3. Liga club on a fresh loan for 2026/27, taking the number 4 shirt. At 191cm, he offers a physical presence in central midfield to go with the fact that he is comfortable on either foot.
Before his move into professional football, Borsum was a product of local clubs TSV Wendezelle and VfB Peine in his home region around Peine, where he was born, prior to joining Wolfsburg's academy setup.
