K. Stapic

A centre-back with seven league goals in a season is not a common sight, but that was Karlo Stapić's 2025/26 at HNK Cibalia. Across 32 league matches in Croatia's Prva NL, plus one in the Croatian Cup, he scored eight times in all competitions. He also picked up eight yellow cards.

That season earned him a route back home. In the summer of 2026 Stapić signed for HŠK Zrinjski Mostar on a free transfer, with a contract running to the summer of 2028. He took the number 15 shirt and has since played three league matches and two in the UEFA Conference League, without scoring.

The path there ran through most of Bosnia and Herzegovina's football map. Stapić started out at NK Busovača, then moved to BFK Simm Bau — also known as NK Vis Simm-Bau — for the 2019/20 season, staying until the end of 2021/22. His time there brought two appearances and a goal in the First League of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

A free agent in the summer of 2022, he joined FK Sloga Meridian in Doboj and made 16 Premier League appearances in his single season at the club. In July 2023 he moved to HŠK Posušje, where he stayed two years and played 46 top-flight matches — 15 in 2023/24, then 31 the following season. He did not score in either spell.

His international record sits slightly across the border from his birthplace. Though born in Nova Bila and Bosnian by origin, Stapić appears in Croatian Football Federation records as a youth international for Croatia at under-15, under-17 and under-19 level.
