The goals came against the sides that matter most in Istanbul. Playing for Beşiktaş U19, Kartal Cengizer scored against Fenerbahçe U19 and against Trabzonspor U19 — the fixtures where the history between the clubs adds an edge, and where a left-footed midfielder gets noticed.

He had been at Beşiktaş since 2017, arriving as a boy from Ümraniye and working up through the age groups over the best part of a decade. The professional contract came in September 2025, confirming what the youth-team years had pointed towards.

The move that followed was the significant one. On 23 July 2026 Cengizer joined Bodrum FK permanently, signing a three-year deal running to 30 June 2029. The transfer covered the full assignment of his registration rights, the bonservis passing from Beşiktaş to the Aegean club. No figures were confirmed in official statements from either side, though reports at the time put a valuation of around €8.5 million on the deal, with a sell-on clause attached. Beşiktaş kept a percentage of any future fee or profit on his sale — the sort of arrangement clubs build in when they expect a player to move again.

He arrives at Bodrum without a trophy or an individual award to his name, which is unremarkable for a player who has spent his career to this point in youth football. The left foot, the goals against the two clubs Beşiktaş measures itself against, and the length of the contract are what Bodrum have bought into.
