About the player
Lewis Stewart came through the Rangers academy after joining the club's youth ranks at the age of nine, and last season he got his first taste of senior men's football away from Ibrox. On loan at Alloa Athletic in Scottish League One in 2024/25, the winger made close to thirty appearances and contributed six goals and two assists.
That form was enough to put him firmly in Derek McInnes's thinking back at Rangers. Stewart trained regularly with the first team and was named among the substitutes for Europa League fixtures against Ferencváros, Ludogorets and Porto. The club rewarded that progress in the summer of 2026 with a one-year contract extension, signed shortly after his nineteenth birthday.
Rather than push straight for a first-team breakthrough at Ibrox, Rangers sent him out again in July 2026, this time to Queen's Park in the Scottish Championship, under a reciprocal loan arrangement between the two clubs. It is a step up in level from League One, and one that will test whether the goal returns he showed at Alloa can travel with him.
Stewart, an attacking, right-footed winger, has also represented Scotland at Under-19 level, adding an international dimension to a development path that has so far run entirely through loan spells rather than involving him at Ibrox itself.
