Martin Chrien

Martin Chrien scored against England and against Sweden at the 2017 UEFA European Under-21 Championship. Slovakia had qualified for the tournament with his help. He played 21 times for the U21 side and scored six goals.

He made 29 senior appearances for Dukla and scored five goals before Viktoria Plzeň signed him in 2014 for a reported €1 million. Plzeň sent him out on loan three times: to Dynamo České Budějovice, to Zbrojovka Brno, and then to Ružomberok. The Ružomberok spell in 2016/17 brought five goals in 17 appearances. He also finished as top scorer of that season's Slovak Cup with three. In 2016 he was nominated for the Petr Dubovský Award for the best young Slovak player and came fourth.

Benfica paid about €1 million for him in June 2017. His time in Portugal was spent mostly in the club's B team, with a loan at Santa Clara in the 2018/19 Primeira Liga in between. He made one first-team appearance for Benfica. His senior Slovakia debut came on 7 June 2019 in a friendly against Jordan. He scored the second goal in a 5–1 win.

He left Benfica for Mezőkövesd Zsóry in January 2021 as a free agent, then spent a short spell at Pohronie in 2022. In August 2022 he returned to Ružomberok, where he made 96 appearances and scored 12 goals over four seasons. In July 2026 he joined FK Železiarne Podbrezová as a free agent.
