About the player
Mauricio Cuero has spent most of his career on the move, rarely staying more than a season or two at any one club since leaving La Equidad, where he broke through in 2011. A loan at Argentina's Olimpo brought his first professional goal, and the following stop at Banfield produced his best return anywhere, seven goals in 32 appearances, form that carried him to Levante in Spain. He made 13 appearances there before the club's relegation.
The Levante move gave way to a switch to Mexico, where Santos Laguna paid around €3 million for him in July 2016. What followed was a run of loans that took him from Tijuana to Paraguay's Olimpia, then Belgrano and Atlas, before he returned to Argentina permanently with Independiente. He joined Deportivo Garcilaso in Peru in March 2024, taking the number 18 shirt, and moved on again to Deportivo Madryn in Argentina's Primera Nacional in early 2025, keeping the same number.
Internationally, Cuero was part of the Colombia under-20 side that won the South American Youth Championship in 2013.
