About the player
Marcelo Jorquera's career has run mostly through the lower and middle tiers of Chilean football.
He came through at Provincial Osorno before joining Ñublense. A move to Universidad de Chile followed, though he saw much of that spell out on loan, going out to Deportes Iquique, Rangers and Barnechea. He returned to Cobresal for a further stretch before joining Deportes Iquique in 2025, the club with which he is now associated. A move to Santiago Morning has since been agreed for 2026.
Jorquera has never won a major trophy and has not been capped by Chile at senior level. His has been a career built on steady defensive work at clubs across the second tier and provincial scene rather than on trophies or international recognition, with the 2023 Team of the Year nod standing as the clearest external endorsement of that consistency.
