About the player
In February 2023, Spanish club CD Estepona signed Maizon Rodríguez on loan. Paperwork problems meant the move never produced a single appearance, and within months the young centre-back was back in Uruguay.
That club was Juventud Las Piedras. He made his senior debut that August in a Copa AUF tie against Universal de San José, won 1-0. Back from the aborted Spanish spell, he re-established himself at Juventud and, in 2024, helped the club win a promotion play-off back into Uruguay's top division. By 2025 he had become a regular starter.
That form brought a move to Argentina in July 2025, when Unión de Santa Fe signed him on a contract running to the end of 2028. He was handed his debut on 15 August against Instituto in Córdoba, a match Unión won 4-0.
