About the player
Maximilian Fischer was born in Cologne and came up through 1. Liga in May 2021. Spells at FC Wegberg-Bee, where he made 21 appearances in a single season, and SV Lippstadt 08, where two seasons brought 39 appearances and a goal, followed before he returned home in the summer of 2024 to SC Fortuna Köln .
Fischer needed only his early weeks back at Fortuna to make an impression, heading in the second goal in a 2–0 win over SV Rödinghausen on 10 August 2024 from a free kick — a moment that helped him lock down a regular starting place.
A left-footed centre-back standing 192cm, Fischer has made his career on free transfers, moving between every one of his senior clubs without a fee changing hands. There have been no international caps and no major honours along the way.
