About the player
Fontaine's international career began in October 2024, in a 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Gambia that finished 1–1. He was born in Ambilly and holds French nationality, and had represented France at youth level, but chose Madagascar at senior level. As of early 2025 he had two caps and no goals.
His club path ran through AS Cornier and Thonon Evian, before he moved to RB Leipzig in 2016. In 2019 he signed for Olympique Lyonnais , where he never appeared for the first team in Ligue 1 or the Coupe de France. His football there was with Lyon B in National 2: ten appearances in 2019–20, nine in 2021–22. He also had two loans to Spain — Las Rozas CF from September 2020 to February 2021, then UP Langreo until that June.
Leaving Lyon in 2022, he moved through four clubs: GFA Rumilly-Vallières, then CS Chênois in Switzerland, then RAAL La Louvière and KSC Lokeren-Temse in Belgium.
He joined Septemvri Sofia in August 2025. Both clubs confirmed the transfer involved a fee, though the figure was not disclosed.
