Namrud Embaye

Namrud Embaye was born in Frankfurt am Main and started out in the youth ranks at SV Darmstadt 98 before moving on to Kickers Offenbach, where he made ten appearances for the U19 side in the Bundesliga Süd/Südwest and scored once. His senior career began in the lower reaches of German football: a spell at SV Zeilsheim in the Hessenliga without a first-team outing, followed by a move to Bad Vilbel, where he made 20 appearances and scored twice.

Two years at TSV Schott Mainz, across the Oberliga Rhein-Pfalz-Saarland and the Regionalliga Südwest, brought 50 appearances and four goals. Spells at FC Teutonia 05 Ottensen in the Regionalliga Nord and then FV Illertissen in the Regionalliga Bayern followed, each move made on a free transfer, before FC Würzburger Kickers signed him for the 3. Liga in the summer of 2026. He has made between six and seven appearances for the club so far.

A left-footed midfielder, Embaye holds dual German and Eritrean nationality and has chosen to represent Eritrea at international level. He made his debut for the national team on 25 March 2026 against Eswatini, in the preliminary round of the African Nations Cup 2027, and has since been capped twice.
