Owen Michael Wolff

There is a video Austin fans keep coming back to: October 2025, the play-offs, LAFC on the road, and Owen Wolff scoring the winner in a 1-0 win.

Wolff came through the academies of Columbus Crew and Atlanta United before signing with Austin as a Homegrown player in September 2021 — the first Homegrown signing to appear for the club, and he made his debut that November against Sporting Kansas City barely two months later. Appearances built up steadily across several seasons before 2025 turned into his best campaign yet, with seven goals and twelve assists.

The recognition has been consistent rather than sudden. Wolff has featured on MLS's 22 Under 22 list three years running, from 2023 through 2025, and in October 2024 he signed a contract extension through 2027 with a club option for 2028. That deal was then extended again in January 2026, this time to June 2030, at the league's initiative under MLS's U22 rules.

Internationally, Wolff has represented the United States at both under-19 and under-20 level, and he was part of the squad at the 2023 Under-20 World Cup in Argentina, scoring once and setting up two more goals in that tournament. He has yet to earn a senior cap. Off the field of statistics, he belongs to a small group: one of only eight father-son pairs to have scored in MLS, following his father Josh Wolff.

The follow-up to his best season has been complicated. In January 2026 Wolff underwent surgery for a sports hernia, a procedure that interrupted his momentum just as the extended contract took effect.
