About the player
Otso Virtanen made his senior debut for TPS in 2011 before a loan spell at ÅIFK gave him 20 appearances. In 2013, he joined IFK Mariehamn and held the position for three seasons, yielding 65 appearances and, in 2015, a Finnish Cup winner's medal.
Later that year he moved abroad, joining Hibernian in Scotland. He included two cup finals, as Hibernian reached the finals of both the Scottish Cup and the League Cup in the 2015–16 season.
He joined Ilves as a free agent at the start of 2023.
At international level, Virtanen represented Finland's under-21 side, making 13 appearances between 2014 and 2016.
