Pablo Ignacio Cárdenas Baeza

Cárdenas has spent his career crossing borders. He came through the youth system at Colo-Colo before moving to Cobresal, and made his professional debut there in 2018, when the club was playing in Chile's second tier, the Primera B. That first season amounted to three appearances.

Cobresal went back up to the Primera A in 2019, and Cárdenas stayed with the club through to the end of the 2023 season, taking in fixtures against sides such as Santiago Wanderers.

In January 2024 he left Chile for Peru, joining Cusco FC. He made 26 to 27 appearances for the club and scored once, against Sport Boys in February 2024. In July 2025 he moved on to another Peruvian side, Comerciantes Unidos, where he saw out the year.

February 2026 brought him home. He signed for Santiago City and has so far played ten matches for the club, scoring one goal.

His eligibility has been a topic in the Peruvian press. Cárdenas is a Chilean citizen but qualifies for Peru through his father, and the possibility of his national team selection was discussed there. As of September 2021 he had not been in official contact with either the Chilean or the Peruvian federation, and no call-up followed at youth or senior level in either country. He has not received a national team call-up.
