About the player
In the 2024 Concacaf Champions Cup quarter-final against Tigres UANL, Patrick Schulte gave away a goal by mishandling the ball with his hand.
Schulte grew up in St. Charles, Missouri, and came through the St. Louis Scott Gallagher SC academy before joining Saint Louis FC's academy and signing his first professional contract there in 2019.
Columbus Crew picked him 12th overall in the 2022 MLS SuperDraft under the Generation Adidas programme.
Schulte was named the Concacaf Champions Cup's best goalkeeper for 2024 and included in the tournament's Best XI, and he was a finalist for MLS Goalkeeper of the Year. In February 2025, Columbus extended his contract through 2027, with an option for 2028.
An oblique injury sustained in the warm-up before a match against Charlotte FC in May 2025 kept him out for around seven games. He returned to the starting line-up on 12 July 2025.
