About the player
He was named after Roberto Mancini, and by the time he was seven he was already inside the Slavia Sofia academy. His father, Ilia Iliev, played the game too.
He made 35 matches for Slavia Sofia II in the Bulgarian third tier between 2022 and 2024, scoring 21 goals. One afternoon in the 2022/23 season he scored five in a single match against CSKA 1948 III.
He made his professional debut on 19 February 2023 against Ludogorets , and closed the campaign with his first senior goal on 6 June, against Lokomotiv Sofia. Four league appearances that year, one goal.
Twenty-two league matches in 2023/24 brought a single goal and one assist. In 2024/25 he played 26 matches, scored five goals and provided three assists, then in 2025/26 he played 33 league games and scored four. He has 92 appearances for the senior side in all, 12 goals and four assists, plus four qualifying matches in the UEFA Europa Conference League in 2023/24 and two UEFA Youth League games for the reserves.
In 2023 both CSKA and Levski came for him. He stayed, and described the decision as his own choice.
In March 2026 he dropped out of the Bulgaria under-21 squad for the match against Gibraltar with a contusion. The current season has brought five matches and one goal so far.
