About the player
Richard Meier's path to professional football ran through the Magdeburg academy, where he progressed from Burger BC 08 before joining 1. FC Magdeburg's youth ranks. He made his senior debut with the club's reserve side in the Verbandsliga Sachsen-Anhalt, scoring 17 goals in 24 appearances on a free transfer in the summer of 2023.
At Sandhausen, Meier stepped up to the 3. Liga, where he made 47 appearances and scored seven goals over two seasons. The move to Bayern Munich II followed in 2025, again on a free transfer, where he signed a contract running until 2028 and featured in the Regionalliga Bayern.
His time with Bayern's second team was brief. In February 2026 he moved on loan to SpVgg Unterhaching, still in the Regionalliga Bayern, before a further loan took him to SV Meppen in the 3. Liga in July 2026.
At 193 cm, Meier offers a physical presence attacking teams can use as an outlet. Across his senior career he has scored 26 goals in 95 league appearances. He has not featured for any German national youth side.
