Žiga Repas

When Žiga Repas left Domžale for Maribor in February 2024, he did so on a free transfer, moving six months before his contract expired. Domžale kept a percentage of any future sale. Before signing, Repas had turned down interest from abroad, including the Italian Serie B club Reggiana, then managed by Alessandro Nesta, and the Russian side Pari Nizhny Novgorod. He chose Maribor to play alongside his brother, Jan Repas.

The move closed a stretch in which he had spent almost his whole career in one place. Repas joined the Domžale academy in 2008 and stayed until 2020, making his senior debut for the club in 2019. In September 2020 he was loaned to Dob, returning the following June. A dispute with the Domžale management later sidelined him.

He is an attacking midfielder, described in scouting terms as an advanced playmaker, and left-footed. At Maribor he wears the number 10, though some databases still list him at 19.

Repas came through the Slovenian youth system without reaching the senior side. He won nine caps at under-17 level and three at under-18, then made ten appearances for the under-19s and scored twice. He has yet to be capped by the senior national team.

No senior honours have followed. Maribor took the PrvaLiga title in 2021–22, but Repas was at Domžale that season, and the club finished fourth. The championship went to Olimpija Ljubljana in 2022–23 and to Celje in 2023–24. He holds no individual awards.
