Baztán

When Baztán went into the preliminary rounds of the 2024–25 Copa del Rey, the draw gave them Ontiñena, a side from Huesca in Aragon. It was the first time the club from the Baztán valley had met an Aragonese team in the cup. The tie ended 3–5 and Baztán went out.

Elizondo is the valley's main town, and Club Deportivo Baztán has represented it since 1925. Its supporters chant "Aupa Baztan", and the club has no nickname beyond that. The home kit is red shirts, blue shorts and black socks. Home games are played at Giltxaurdi, which holds 1,000.

The club's honours come from the regional divisions of Navarre. Baztán won the Primera Regional in 1945–46, and the Tercera Regional title followed in 1970–71. Group titles in the Primera Regional came in 1979–80 and again in 2010–11. The club played in the Tercera División, the fourth tier of Spanish football, through the 1990s. The best finish there was fifth, in 1993–94.

Off the pitch, Desde La Banda – Fútbol Navarro has given Baztán its fair play award more than once.

The valley has also supplied players to a larger club. Two youth players left for Real Sociedad's academy: the centre-back Jon Pacheco in 2013 and the forward Jon Karrikaburu a year later. Pacheco went on to play for Deportivo Alavés on loan and for the Spanish national team. Karrikaburu was loaned to Alavés, Leganés, Andorra and Racing de Santander.

The club has no recognised derby to sharpen the seasons in between.
