That run sits alongside four bronze medals at the same tournament, won in 2007, 2015, 2018 and 2025, and a third place at the FIFA U-17 World Cup in Chile in 2015 — a spread of near-misses and podiums stretched across two decades rather than a single triumph.

The side carries the senior team's nickname, the Red Devils, first attached to the Belgian shirt in 1906 for its colour.

Its real function shows in the players who moved through it and on. Jérémy Doku wore the shirt in 2018 and 2019 on his way out of Anderlecht's academy; Johan Bakayoko followed a year later from PSV. Mile Svilar kept goal for the U17s in 2016 before deciding his future lay with Serbia rather than Belgium at senior level.

No one is watched more closely from that production line than Mika Godts, who went on to make his senior debut for Belgium in 2026.
