Bottrop

In June 2019, the club dropped that name and became FC Bottrop 19. Five years later, in June 2024, it disappeared again, merging into a new entity called FC Welheim alongside Rot-Weiß Welheimer Löwen 09/12, with Burak Akpinar and Süleyman Gür taking joint charge of the combined side.

Between those two dates, the club stayed what it had always been: a Kreisliga B side from Bottrop-Welheim, competing at the ninth tier of German football, far removed from any prospect of silverware. Its home was the Sportplatz Welheimer Straße, a 3,000-capacity ground on Welheimer Straße that had its pitch converted to artificial turf in 2019, the same year the club took its new name. Blue and red remained the colours throughout.

FC Bottrop 19 never produced a player of note and collected no honours worth recording, the kind of side whose whole story sits in a regional league table rather than a trophy cabinet. What it did have was Blau-Weiß Fuhlenbrock across town, and the meetings between the two were still called a "kleines Derby" in the local press right up until the merger closed that chapter for good.
