Bradul Putna

Football in Putna, a commune in Suceava county, ran for decades on local men who played for the village and then stayed on around it. The club that grew out of that arrangement, CS Bradul Putna, has never been anything but amateur.

For most of the past decade the team belonged to the county league. It won Liga IV Suceava in 2013/14 and went into the play-off for a place in Liga III, where Gloria II Bistrița beat it 6-2.

Then came 2025/26, and Bradul went through Liga IV Suceava without losing a match. The play-off this time was Unirea Curtești, beaten 8-0 across the two legs, and Putna became the first side from Suceava county to reach Liga III. The same season the club took the county round of the Cupa României, seeing off Academica Gălănești 1-0, and then the North-East regional round, which put it into the national phase.

The home ground opened in September 2024 and holds 800 — a stand rather than a stadium, and enough for a commune of this size.

The coach whose name is attached to this stretch has also worked with the club's children's teams. But the man known best in Putna was playing here in the 1960s and never really left.
