Brigg Town

Brigg Town F.C. has stood in Lincolnshire since 1864.

They are known as The Zebras because of their black and white striped shirts. The club operates as a Community Interest Company. Success has come in waves. They lifted the FA Vase twice, first in 1996 when they beat Clitheroe 3–0, and again in 2003 against AFC Sudbury. Those victories mattered because they took Brigg out of the local pyramid for a few days and into the national conversation. They also won the Northern Counties East League Premier Division in 2001 and the Midland League in 1978, proving they could compete at a higher level when the pieces fell into place.

One player who passed through the door was Matt Godden, who arrived on loan from Scunthorpe United in 2009–10. He scored nine goals in twenty appearances before his time ran out, leaving a mark that fans still remember. The club also reached the FA Cup first round in 2001–02, a run that ended quickly but showed what was possible when the team pressed high up the pitch.

Today, the rivalry with Bottesford Town remains the central feature of their calendar. Matches between the two sides are never friendly affairs; the table goes out of the window in these games, and every tackle feels personal. Brigg Town does not chase glory beyond its borders, but it defends its patch with the same intensity it showed when it first formed.
