«Chavdartsi»
The side from Troyan has carried more names than most clubs: Balkanets from 1947, Stroitel from 1949, Hemus from 1980, and Olympik-2 from 2003. The club itself dates to 1942. Chavdar is the name the town knows best, and it gave the team its nickname, Chavdartsi. Their colours are red shirts and white shorts at home, and blue and yellow away.
Their best stretch came in the 1970s and early 1980s. In 1972 they finished fourth in the Western 'B' Group, the second tier, where they have played 13 times in all. In 1979 they reached the quarter-finals of the Bulgarian Cup. In 1982 they went one round further and lost in the semi-finals.
Martin Kushev is the player most closely tied to the club. He was a striker who played for Bulgaria, and he later returned as club president. Stefano Kunchev runs the youth academy, so the next players are meant to come through the club's own system.
The stadium holds 5,000 and stands in the town centre. Its everyday name, Gradski stadion Troyan, simply means "Troyan city stadium".
In 2026 the club merged with FC Balkan from Oreshak, its main local rival, and the two now play as one entity.
The club has never won a league title or a cup. The 1982 semi-final remains the closest it has come to one.
