City SC

City SC stepped into USL League Two only in 2025, and its first fixture list was full of strangers drawn from across California and Arizona: Ventura County Fusion, Tucson, Stars FC, Capo, AMSG, the Seahorses, Redlands. None of those matches carries the weight of an old grudge yet — a debut season leaves no time to build one.

Home games are played at the Duffield Sports Complex, on the grounds of the Army and Navy Academy in Carlsbad. The venue takes its name from Dave and Cheryl Duffield, whose $2.5 million gift to the academy funded it. It holds 750 people, and not one more.

The club operates as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit. On the field, City SC wears white at home and navy on the road, with orange trim due to join the kit in 2026.

The organisation behind the badge is older than the League Two debut suggests. It was registered in 1999 as Carlsbad United FC, doing business as City Soccer Club — a youth-focused nonprofit long before a senior side ever took the field under its name.
