Como U19

Two seasons before Cesc Fàbregas took charge of Como's first team, he was coaching the club's Primavera — a World Cup and Champions League winner running a side of teenagers rather than the senior squad he would inherit once Como returned to Serie A in 2024.

The youth team he took over had gone six decades without adding much to its cabinet. Its one national title, the Campionato Nazionale Primavera in the Serie B group, dates to 1962–63, and the Trofeo Dossena was won twice in the 1980s, in 1986 and 1988. The gap closed in 2023–24, when the Primavera won Campionato Primavera 2 and moved up to Primavera 1, the tier in which it now also enters the UEFA Youth League. Gianluca Falsini has since taken over as head coach, working under Osian Roberts, who runs the development set-up Fàbregas left behind.

Como's academy has a longer habit of producing players than trophies. Luigi Meroni came through it in the 1950s, Stefano Borgonovo was raised in it, and both Antonio Cetti and Armando Varini emerged from the same ranks in the 1940s. None of them matches the pull of the name still tied closest to the club's youth sector: Gianluca Zambrotta, born in Como and developed there before he went on to win the World Cup with Italy in 2006.
