Courtételle

François Marque took over at Courtételle in 2024, a coaching post a long way from the pitches he played on for FC Basel, Grenoble and SC Bastia. What he inherited was a club that plays four divisions below where he made his name, in the 1. Liga Classic, and had never won a regional title in that competition's history.

That gap between pedigree and level runs through most of what Courtételle does. Founded on 1 July 1945 in the Jura commune of the same name, the club has spent its existence in Swiss regional football, and its one honour of note sits outside that pyramid: the Coupe de la Vallée, a regional cup Courtételle won in 2024 in its 51st edition. No other club has entered every one of those 51 editions.

Home games are played at the Centre Sportif on Rue du Cornat, which holds 1,500 — a capacity that gives some sense of scale before the club's name comes up against opponents several tiers above it. In the 2025/26 Swiss Cup, Courtételle drew Basel in the first round and won 6:4. The draw for 2026/27 has paired the club with Basel again.
