Crossing Schaerbeek

The municipal pitch on Avenue du Suffrage Universel holds 3,500, a figure the Schaerbeek commune's own paperwork settles more firmly than the transfer databases that still round it up to 4,500. Communal is the operative word in the ground's name, Stade communal de Schaerbeek: the borough owns it, and Crossing Schaerbeek has simply always played there.

The line back to that ground runs through Union Sportive Albert Schaerbeek, which joined the Belgian federation in 1945 and was registered under matricule 4070. That number is worth holding onto, because Schaerbeek once had another Crossing, matricule 55, a club that won the third division in 1929/30 and still exists today as KVV Crossing Elewijt. The two share a name and a postcode and nothing else. RUSAS carried matricule 4070 on its own until 2012, when it merged with R. FC Evere into Royal Crossing Albert Schaerbeek-Evere; the following year the club took the shorter name it plays under now.

Promotion has come at intervals rather than in a rush. The Première Provinciale title in Brabant arrived in 2019/20, and Division 2 ACFF followed five seasons later, in 2024/25 — the club's highest finish since the reorganisation. Green and white have carried the name throughout, and the terraces still know the side by an older tag, Les ânes, the Donkeys.

The academy set up in 2012 has yet to produce a name that shows up in the record. What has shown up, in 2026, is bought-in experience: Paolino Bertaccini arrived with Genk, Standard and Club Brugge already behind him, brought in as a finished player rather than one still being made at the club.

None of that carries the weight of the visit from Ganshoren. Brussels papers still file it as the small derby, and when RSD Jette come to Avenue du Suffrage Universel, the needle runs much the same.
