EVV

In the spring of 2006 a village side from Limburg got within one match of the national amateur cup. EVV had already taken the Districtsbeker Zuid II that season, and the run carried them to the KNVB Beker final for amateurs, where ASWH beat them 3–1.

The club grew out of a failure. EVV Sparta, formed in 1908, went bankrupt, and on 26 June 1926 the footballers of Echt started again under a new name. The nickname stuck from the geography of the town rather than from anything on the pitch: Oos EVV'ke, in the Limburgish of the east side of Echt, is roughly "our little EVV".

The climb came late. Winning Zondag Eerste Klasse D in 2003–04 put EVV into the Hoofdklasse, then the top of the amateur game, and from 2010 to 2017 they held a place in the Topklasse, the third tier. Fifth in 2013/14 was as high as they reached. The fall since has been steady enough: relegation from the Derde Divisie to the Vierde Divisie in 2022.

Sportpark 'In de Bandert' holds about 2,000. The derbies that fill it are close to home — Sportclub Susteren, joined to Echt by the municipal merger that gave the town its double-barrelled name, and SV Laar from further along the Midden-Limburg road.

One older trophy sits apart from the rest: the Baron de Vexela Coupe, won in 1940. The name in the club's own paperwork changed more recently. Until 2020 it carried the RKVV prefix — Rooms Katholieke Voetbalvereniging — a survival from the era when Limburg's clubs were parish clubs. Dropping it left simply EVV Echt.
