Filiaşi

Four second-place finishes in Liga III since 2021 — 2020–21, then three in a row from 2022–23 — and Filiași are still in Liga III. Each promotion play-off ended the same way: beaten on the pitch or thrown out of the tie. The route up from the third tier is a straight knockout, and the club has now failed it more often than any other part of its record would suggest.

The one trophy in the cabinet is the Dolj County Liga IV title of 2013–14, which carried the team out of county football and into Liga III. Everything since has been an attempt to repeat the trick one level higher.

Gheorghe Ciurea took the club through both halves of that story. A midfielder in the Universitatea Craiova side that won the Romanian championship in 1991, and later at Farul, he managed at Filiași from 2011 to 2015 — the county title years — and returned for a further spell in 2019.

The best cup run came in 2021–22, when the team reached the quarter-finals of the Cupa României. For a Liga III club that remains the deepest they have gone in the competition.

Home is the Stadionul Orășenesc, opened in 2019 and holding 1,360. The ground is younger than most of the squad that plays on it.

Daniel Rogoveanu, a midfielder born in Filiași, first appeared for the club in 2021 and has been back in the side since 2023.

The white and blue — Alb-albaștrii, the White-Blues, in the town and on the terrace alike — go into another Liga III campaign with the same task they have carried since the last four seasons ended in second place: finish top of the group, and then win the tie that follows.
