Giugliano

The Stadio Alberto De Cristofaro holds 7,030 people, and since 2024 it has held rather fewer: the south stand has been closed for rebuilding work. It sits in Giugliano in Campania, a town on the northern edge of the Naples sprawl, and it is the only ground the club has ever called home — a point worth making because Giugliano's name has occasionally been attached to a stadium in nearby Aversa that belongs to somebody else entirely.

The club took shape in 1928 as Unione Sportiva Fascista Giuglianese, a name it did not keep. What it did keep were the colours: yellow and blue, lifted from the town's coat of arms, worn since as striped shirts over blue shorts. The nickname followed the shirts — Tigrotti, the little tigers.

Twice the club has been wound up and put back together, in 2010 and again in 2021, and both times 1928 stayed on the badge. That refusal to restart the clock matters more than most of the honours, because the honours are modest and scattered across seven decades: two Serie D titles in Girone F, promotions won through the play-offs, a Promozione championship or two in the 1950s and 1960s. The one that still gets mentioned is the Serie C2 title of 1979–80, Girone B, which took Giugliano as high as it has been.

Among the coaches, Ezio Capuano arrived for the 2024–25 season with a career in Serie A behind him, as player and then as manager — a bigger name than the division usually attracts.

The ground has an odd relationship with the town it serves. Giugliano in Campania is one of the largest municipalities in Campania by population, and 7,030 seats — minus a stand — is not a great many of them.
