Hércules

The Estadio Cuscatlán in San Salvador holds 44,836 people, and since 2025 it has been where Hércules plays its home matches. On 9 May 2025 the revival of the club was announced, and the new side bought the licence and the Primera División place of Once Deportivo, winners of the Apertura 2024.

What the name carries goes back to 25 September 1904, when the club was set up to cover athletics, swimming and basketball as much as football. The nickname Estrellas Negras , the black stars, stuck, from the black and white it still wears.

The stars were earned in a stretch that no one in El Salvador has matched since. Between 1927 and 1934 Hércules won seven national championships in a row — the run began in 1927 and ended with the 1933–34 title. Among the players remembered from those years is Rogelio Ávila, known as Josote.

In 2025 Hércules took the Supercopa de El Salvador, beating Alianza FC 2–1 in the final. Daniel Corti was appointed coach in December 2025.

That final is the shape of the fixture that matters now.
