Laakkwartier

HVV Laakkwartier reached the top of amateur football in the Netherlands only once, and the timing cost the club its celebration: the 1940 KNVB Championship in the first class arrived the same year the Second World War broke out. The next league title came in 2006, which brought promotion back to the first class of the KNVB. A period championship followed in 2015, paired with promotion under the name 'Stip'.

The club traces back to 1920, when customers of a barbershop in the Laakkwartier district of The Hague decided to form a team. Red and black became the club colours two years later, on 25 September 1922, in the form of a chequered shirt and black shorts.

Football has not been the only sport under the club's roof: a baseball section ran alongside it from 1940 until 2001. Since 1937, Laakkwartier has played at its own ground in the district, Sportcomplex Laakkwartier, which holds 4,000.

Recent fixtures have brought the club into contact with far bigger neighbours: friendlies against ADO Den Haag have put Laakkwartier's amateur side up against the city's professional club.
