Lorca Deportiva

Águilas is the name that comes up most often when Lorca Deportiva takes the field. Supporters founded it on 27 July 2012, days after the previous Lorca Deportiva CF collapsed under debts run up trying to hold on to a place in the Segunda División. That predecessor had itself replaced a Lorca side founded in 1969 and wound up in 1994.

The 2002–2010 version is the one locals still measure against. Under Unai Emery, who took charge in 2004 and led the team up to the Segunda via a play-off decided by a goal from Juan Carlos Ramos, Lorca finished fifth in 2005/06 and Emery picked up the division's manager-of-the-season award. Founding president Antonio Baños Albacete oversaw that rise; his successor Miguel Muñoz inherited the debts that ended it, including a relegation from Segunda B in 2009/10 triggered by unpaid wages.

The rebuilt club has had to work back up from regional football. It won the Primera Autonómica in 2014/15, took the Tercera División group in both 2015/16 and 2019/20, and added the regional phase of the Copa RFEF in 2015/16. Home matches are played at the Estadio Francisco Artés Carrasco, open since 2002 and holding around 8,100.
