Mâcon

Home matches at Mâcon are played at the Stade Pierre Guérin, a modest football ground built into the wider Complexe Champlevert on the edge of the city, holding around 2,000 spectators along its touchlines.

The club itself grew out of a merger: three local sides, FC Mâcon, US Charnay and ASPTT Mâcon, came together in 1999 to form a single Mâconnais team, initially under the name Union du Football Mâconnais. That name carried the club through more than two decades before a rebrand in 2025 turned it into Mâcon 71, a change that also swapped the traditional dark blue kit for red and black.

Regional honours followed at intervals rather than in a rush: the DH Bourgogne title in 1999, again in 2003, and a third in 2022. A step up came in 2023, when the club topped its National 3 group for Bourgogne-Franche-Comté. In the Coupe de France, the furthest Mâcon has reached is the round of 32, managed twice, in 1995/96 and again in 2020/21.

For the 2025/26 season, Mâcon 71 lines up in National 2, group F, against clubs drawn from across a wide stretch of eastern France.
