Real Colorado Foxes

South of Denver, in Meridian, Colorado, the pitches of the Real Colorado Soccer Complex now carry a name that first belonged to a youth academy. Real Colorado was founded in 1986 to train young players, and it took more than twenty years before a men's team wearing its colours, the Foxes, took shape.

The Foxes were built in 2008 and 2009 and entered the USL Premier Development League, now USL League Two, in their first year. Their opening match, on 9 May 2009, ended 3-2 over the Kansas City Brass.

That debut season took the club to the Heartland Division final and a third-place finish in the standings. Further play-off runs followed in 2010, 2012 and 2013, though never with a conference title attached. The closest the Foxes came to a bigger stage was the 2011 US Open Cup, where they beat the DV8 Defenders 5-0 in the first round before the Kitsap Pumas won 3-1 in the second.

Home matches through those years were played at Shea Stadium in Highlands Ranch, a ground holding somewhere between 3,500 and 4,000 spectators. After the 2015 season, the team stopped competing altogether.

The Foxes returned in 2025, playing in the Mountain Premier Conference of The League for Clubs from their new home at the Real Colorado Soccer Complex. They are set to rejoin USL League Two for the 2026 season — eleven years after their last appearance in the competition.
