FC Rotkreuz is a fourth-tier side from a small commune in the canton of Zug, going through the 2022/23 Schweizer Cup and beating both FC Kriens and FC Schaffhausen, two clubs sitting well above them in the league pyramid, before Servette finally ended the run 3-1 in the quarter-final. The club was founded on 1 July 1958 and has carried the same name ever since, playing in red and white . Home games are at Sportpark Rotkreuz, which holds 2,500.
League form since the cup run has swung: third place in 1. Liga Classic, group 2, in 2023/24, then a drop to fifteenth the following season. This past summer put Rotkreuz back down a tier, into 2. Liga Interregional, group 4, where the early table already had them pushing for second.
