San Donato Tavarnelle

Promotion to Serie C followed, and with it a change of legal form: the amateur association became San Donato Tavarnelle S.r.l.

It came out of a 2006 merger between two teams from the same commune in the hills south of Florence — A.C. San Donato, founded in 1962, and Libertas Tavarnelle, whose story runs back to 1927, through disbandment after the Second World War and a revival in the 1950s. Tavarnelle Val di Pesa gave the merged club its ground, the Stadio San Donato in Poggio, which holds 400 people.

Before Indiani there was the Eccellenza Toscana title in 2014, the first step up to Serie D, and a Coppa Italia Dilettanti Toscana the season before it.

The professional year did not last.

The yellow shirt and navy shorts stay, and so do the fixtures that draw a crowd here: Poggibonsi, fifteen kilometres away across the provincial line, in what the two sides call the Derby del Chianti, and Figline 1965 from the other side of the Florentine hills.
