Scanzorosciate

The Stadio Comunale di Scanzorosciate holds 615 people across three low stands, rebuilt in recent years from what had been an even smaller municipal ground — a size that suits a club whose fixtures rarely draw beyond the village itself.

That village, in the province of Bergamo, gave the club its name when the Unione Sportiva Scanzorosciate formed on 28 June 1967, taking yellow and red as its colours. Two decades passed before it reached Prima Categoria for the first time, in 1987/88, and the club spent most of the years after that moving between the lower regional divisions.

The run that people at the club still talk about came in the 2000s. Renamed U.S. Scanzorosciate Calcio in 2000, the side won the Coppa Lombardia twice on penalties — against Inveruno in 2002/03 and against Sovice in 2007/08 — then added the Promozione title in 2008/09 and the Eccellenza Lombardia (girone B) crown in 2010/11. A second Eccellenza title followed in 2015/16, sending Scanzorosciate up into Serie D.

In between, the club went through a stranger passage. In 2012 it merged with neighbouring Pedrengo to form Scanzopedrengo; the merger came apart in 2014 and the original name returned. Pedrengo has remained the club's sharpest rivalry ever since.

Mattia Caldara is the name the club points to. The Italy international defender came through Scanzorosciate's youth ranks between 2000 and 2004, in the Pulcini age group, before Atalanta's academy took him on.
