Tavernes

Tavernes de la Valldigna sits in the province of Valencia, in a region where white onions are grown, and the town's football team takes its nickname from them: Los Rogets. The town changed its own spelling in 1989, and the club followed, becoming Unión Deportiva Tavernes. In 2015 it took its present name, Unió Esportiva Tavernes de la Valldigna.

The early years were broken. The club played two seasons, 1942–43 and 1943–44, then went inactive for a decade. It came back and won the Tercera Regional in 1955. Promotion to the Tercera División followed in 1961, and that remains the highest level it has reached. Tavernes finished fourth in its first season there and stayed three years in all. After that came a long stretch in the regional divisions, with Primera Regional titles in 1978, 2002 and 2016 and a Regional Preferente title in 2000.

The match that matters most to the club was played in May 2026. Tavernes met CD Onda in the final of La Nostra Copa, a regional cup, and won 1–0 through a goal from Joan Talens. It was the club's first major trophy, and it carries the side into the preliminary rounds of the 2026–27 Copa del Rey for the first time. The nearest rival is CF Gandia, and the meetings between the two are called the "derbi comarcal".

The best-known name to come out of the town is Carlos Espí Escrihuela. He started in the club's academy in 2005 and went on to Levante UD, where he helped win promotion to La Liga in 2025. In July 2026 he moved to Real Madrid for a reported €25 million.
