Bruno Méndez was nineteen days into his eighteenth year when he pulled on the shirt for the first time, on 5 June 2017, and Uruguay beat the United States 3-2. That kind of debut, thrown into a match already tilting one way, then the other, says more about what this side is for than any table of results could.

There is no table to give, in any case. The Sub-18 side sits under the Asociación Uruguaya de Fútbol, the body that has run Uruguayan football since 1900 and carried the FIFA badge since 1923, and it does not keep a fixture list in the way a league club does. It gathers, plays, and breaks up again as its players age out or get pulled upward into the Sub-20 and senior set-ups. Alejandro Garay had the group in 2017, the year of the Méndez debut; by 2025 it was Diego Pérez, sometimes written as "Diego Ruso Pérez," taking them to Switzerland for the UEFA Friendship Cup.

The training base carries the same name the whole national set-up answers to, Complejo Uruguay Celeste, and the shirt carries the same nickname too: La Celeste, sky blue, no different at eighteen than at senior level. The South Korea trip in 2015, the Suwon JS Cup, went the other way from that American afternoon — a 1-0 loss to the hosts, another 1-0 to France. Facundo Torres came up through this same age group before Peñarol shaped him into the player he became, alongside Facundo Delgado and Kevin Lewis.
