Virtus Bolzano head into the season having won the regional championship again in 2025–26 and earned a second promotion to Serie D. The club's headquarters sit roughly 200 metres from those of Bozner FC, and fixtures between the two are still known locally as the Derby di Bolzano.
The club as it now exists dates only to August 2015, when FC Bolzano 1996 merged with ASD Virtus Don Bosco, founded in 1945.
Since the merger, honours have come in the same three competitions, on repeat: the Eccellenza Trentino-Alto Adige, the regional Coppa Italia and the provincial Coppa Italia have each been won in 2015–16, again around 2021–22, and again in 2025–26. Among the current squad, Patrik Pasha is the name most associated with this latest promotion push.
Matches are played at the Internorm Arena, also known as Campo Calcio Righi, a ground whose capacity is put at 400.
