«Warringah Rats»
The Northern Beaches Derby against Manly is what Warringah measure themselves against year on year. The Rats, as the club has been known since Doug Leslie Snr encouraged a link to the Rats of Tobruk, were formed in 1963, with the senior side taking the field the following season. Promotion in 1971, after winning the second division the year before, put them into the Shute Shield proper.
Warringah won the Shute Shield in 2005, beating Sydney University 29-23, then again in 2017 against Northern Suburbs, a title clouded by the death of player Lachie Ward that season. The most recent came in 2025, a 37-24 win over Eastern Suburbs, paired that year with the Chikarovski Cup in the Premier Women's competition.
